Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1 tbsp fennel seeds

  • 1 lb. ground turkey or chicken

  • 1 medium-sized apple, chopped

  • 1 tbsp coconut sugar

  • 4 cloves garlic, diced

  • 2 tsp sea salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • Fresh minced basil (optional, for topping)

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil

Instructions:

1) In a skillet over low-medium heat, heat the cumin and fennel seeds for 5 minutes while stirring occasionally. Set aside and let cool.

2) In a large bowl, combine meat of choice, apple, coconut sugar, garlic, sea salt, black pepper, and cooled cumin and fennel seeds. Use your hands to combine the ingredients.

3) Begin making patties that are about ½ inch thick. This recipe will yield around 10-12 patties. Sprinkle minced basil on top of each patty (optional).

4) Grease a large skillet with coconut oil. Cook the patties over medium-high heat for 10 minutes, flipping the patties halfway. Use a thermometer to check the patties are cooked all the way through (165 degrees F). Enjoy!
